Complex Effects of Telecouplings on Forest Dynamics: An Agent-Based Modeling Approach

چکیده
Abstract Rural areas are increasingly subject to the effects of telecouplings (socioeconomic and environmental interactions over distances) whereby their human natural dynamics linked socioeconomic drivers operating far away, such as growing demand for labor ecosystem services in cities. Although there have been many studies evaluating telecouplings, those were often investigated separately, how may interact affect rural coupled systems (CHANS) jointly was rarely evaluated. In this study, we developed an agent-based model simulated impacts two globally common nature-based tourism migration, on forest a CHANS, China’s Wolong Nature Reserve (Wolong). Nature-based migration can facilitate recovery, predicted 2030 would be reduced by 26.2 km 2 (6.8%) 23.9 (6.2%), respectively, without effects. However, development significantly reduce probability local households member(s) outmigrate work cities decrease positive impact recovery. Our simulations show that interaction between potential recovery 3.5 (5.0%) 2030. study highlights among different generate significant outcomes should considered design, management, evaluation achieving sustainable goals. متن کاملModeling Complex Urban Landscape Dynamics: A Pattern-Oriented Hierarchical Approach Workshop on Agent-Based Modeling of Complex Spatial Systems
As complex dynamic systems, urban landscapes emerge from the local interactions of socioeconomic and biophysical agents and processes. These complex systems are highly heterogeneous, spatially nested, and hierarchically structured (Wu and David 2002). They are prototypical complex adaptive systems, which are open, nonlinear, and highly unpredictable (Levin 1998, Portugali 2000, Gunderson and Ho...

Abstract Poverty and various forms of inequality, including class, gender, racial, and ethnic inequalities, are caused by imbalances of power relations and make society prone to social instability and unrest; Inequalities that are by-products of the growing power imbalances between the rich and the poor. The problems of poverty and inequality are inextricably linked to powerful economic and p...

Banks are the financial institutions that collect assets from various sources and allocate them to the sectors that require liquidity. Therefore, banks are an inherent element in the system of every country. As private banks enter financial markets, the demand for diverse banking services increases dramatically. Banks seek to use various techniques to improve their performance in attracting cus...
متن کاملModeling the Forest or Modeling the Trees A Comparison of System Dynamics and Agent-Based Simulation
System Dynamics and Agent-based Simulation are two approaches that use computer simulation for investigating non-linear social and socio-economic systems with a focus on the understanding and qualitative prediction of a system’s behavior. Although the two schools have a broad overlap in research topics they have been relatively unnoticed by each other so far. This paper contributes to the cross...
